The Town of Kildeer
The town of Kildeer, located 34.6 miles from Chicago, sits on the southwest corner of Lake County. The residents of Kildeer focus most of their efforts on maintenance of the town’s flora and fauna. Kildeer seeks to serve as a refuge, a center of tranquility, for the residents who
participate in the frenzy of activity that prevails in Chicagoland.

Chicagoland is the term that residents use to describe the entire municipal region around the city of Chicago. It includes the urban areas, the suburban communities, and the limited number of nature reserves. Kildeer boasts the largest and least developed of all the local nature reserves.

The residents of Kildeer have transformed an oak savanna, a grassy region bordered by wet prairies, into the Kildeer Nature Center. Here nature lovers will find 70 different plant species. At least 73% of those plants are those that botanists and environmentalists consider to be native to the state of Illinois.

Dogwoods, Smooth Sumac, and cherry trees cover much of the land in the Kildeer Nature Center. On the slopes where water drainage has created a sufficiently dry soil, visitors to the Center will find Jersey Tea, a rare native plant species. This Jersey Tea provides the Center visitor with a look at the sort of low-growing shrubs that once covered much of the Illinois prairies. The lower elevations of the Center form a forest wetland. There the Reed Canary Grass grows along Buffalo Creek.

Bird species in the Kildeer Nature Center include the horned owl, the red winged blackbird, the sparrow hawk, the Scarlet Tanger and the red-winged woodpecker. Of course, one other bird species occupies the largest percent of the tranquil habitat inside the Nature Center. That one species is the Kildeer, the bird for which the town was named.

In the springtime, the Kildeer build their nests along the grass-covered ground of the Kildeer Nature Center. With so many nests in the Center, it then becomes almost impossible for any Center visitor to avoid getting close to a single such nest. When that happens, when a Center visitor
approaches a Kildeer nest, then the mother suddenly puts on an act. She pretends to be sick or injured in an attempt to draw the attention of whoever has ventured close to her nest.

The mother Kildeer strives valiantly to protect her young. The mothers of Kildeer, Illinois also put forth great effort to protect their children. During the cold and snowy Kildeer winters, many mothers struggle to keep their children warm and dry. They know that Kildeer’s average snowfall
is twice the average snowfall for the entire U.S. They realize that their children will spend about 50% of their days under cloudy skies.

These mothers also know that they must prepare their children for both cold and hot temperatures. Records and charts show that the temperatures in Kildeer, Illinois normally fluctuate from a low of about 10 degrees Fahrenheit to a high of 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The mothers of Kildeer,
Illinois shop for both summer and winter children’s clothes. Ken Charnley is a personal finance enthusiast with www.online-loans-pro.com/ dedicated to quality information on online loans. For all your online loan needs visit and apply for loans online
